Well we are now down to less than a week before we leave. We have had two meetings since my last update. In the first meeting we meet to discuss Travel, Packing, and Health concerns for the trip. We started with a Bible study on living sacrificially. Our study took us through several passages of Scripture including 1 John 3:16 where Christ shows us the perfect example of how to live a life of love and sacrifice. We can live this life sacrificially because we know that according to Philippians 4:19 God will supply all our needs. This meeting then allowed us time to go through all the details of what and how to pack and our travel plans for the trip.
The following week was exciting as well as we started our VBS at CBC. It was so much fun to be that light unto the Hanover community. It was a great to see the VBS that we will be using at CSCD demonstrated. Our team even got some time to work with Tammi Wolfe learning the ASL that goes with the songs for VBS (See pictures). We are really excited to work with the students and staff at CSCD using the “Submerged” curriculum. The offering from CBC’s VBS is going to meet the needs of CSCD. The kids did an AWESOME job and raised over $1500 to purchase equipment for the school. WAY TO GO KIDS!
We meet again this past Sunday afternoon (7/31). Our checked bags were with us and are stored at church ready to go. Trying to pack a bag for a two week trip a week before you leave can get real exciting. It really brought home how close we were to leaving. Our last meeting before leaving was titled “Final Countdown”. The Bible study focused us on living by faith and not by fear. The lesson started with the story from Matthew 8 where Jesus and the disciples were crossing the lake in a boat and the storm arose. Jesus who knew the storm was coming but went to sleep. When the storm arose the disciples freaked out and were afraid for their lives even with the creator of the universe sleeping in the boat with them. They woke Jesus and He rebuked them for their lack of faith and He calmed the sea. The study then turned us to our fears and concerns and lead us to understand that if we are focused on Him and following His will we don’t need to fear. He will take care of us.
Please continue to pray for the team we still have many things to complete and prepare for before our departure. Please pray for us as we travel on Friday (8/5) and Saturday (8/6). We are still seeking prayer and financial supporters. Lord willing this coming Sunday we will be worshiping with our brothers and sisters in Puerto Rico.
That’s all for now.
